September 2008 - First JCK Show in Vancouver

EGL Canada was proud to host the first JCK Show in Vancouver (September 24-25) and offer 2 lab-tours of their full service lab in Vancouver. In order to educate the Vancouver jewellery trade, Director Banko Deljanin and Appraiser Jurie Wessels presented a one hour lecture "How to Understand and Sell Gemstone Treatments". The lecture covered the following topics:

  • Type of clarity enhancement of major gemstones
  • Type of colour enhancements of major gemstones
  • Stable and not stable gem treatments
  • Identification of gem treatments with standard instruments
  • Describing and disclosure of treatments
  • Importance of knowledge and education
  • Consumer concerns and possible questions
  • Value of treated gems vs. untreated gems
